Sintered magnesia alumina spinel (MgAl₂O₄) is a synthetic refractory raw material produced by high-temperature sintering of high-purity magnesite and industrial alumina. It features a well-developed spinel crystal structure, excellent thermal stability, low thermal expansion, and superior resistance to thermal shock and slag corrosion. Compared with fused spinel, sintered spinel offers better sintering activity and compatibility with matrix materials, making it ideal for high-performance refractory formulations.
High-purity phase composition with consistent MgO·Al₂O₃ spinel content
Excellent thermal shock resistance and low thermal conductivity
Low creep and high hot strength at elevated temperatures
Strong resistance to alkali and acidic slags
Stable volume expansion and minimal reactivity with other refractories
Global Industrial Applications
Sintered spinel is widely used in industries that require materials to withstand aggressive thermal and chemical conditions, including:
― Steel industry: Backfill material and aggregate in magnesia-alumina-carbon bricks, ladle linings, and slide gate plates
― Cement industry: Castables and precast blocks for transition and burning zones
― Non-ferrous metallurgy: Linings for furnaces exposed to corrosive slags (copper, aluminum, lead smelting)
― Petrochemical and incineration: Refractory linings in secondary combustion chambers and gasifiers
― Glass and ceramics: Protective linings for furnaces and kilns
